Our standards

Safeguarding — especially for children and vulnerable adults — is not an add-on module at MBS. It is a required competency across every program, and a subject on which our faculty is trained. Every student is expected to hold in their church what we teach them here.

Disclosures made to MBS

If a disclosure of abuse, harm, or risk is made to a mentor or through the safeguarding inbox, it is handled by the MBS Designated Safeguarding Lead within one working day. Depending on jurisdiction and severity, this may include a referral to statutory authorities. We will not sit on a disclosure.

What we teach

• Written safeguarding policy, appropriate to your context and jurisdiction
• Named safeguarding leads — not the senior pastor alone
• Recruitment and background checks for anyone working with children or vulnerable adults
• Training records that survive turnover
• Ratios, sight-lines, and the two-adult rule
• Recording and reporting when something goes wrong
• Handling a historic disclosure with care and legal seriousness

Confidentiality

MBS holds the confidence of the student and, where relevant, of the person who is the subject of a disclosure. Confidentiality is not a shield used against safety; it is a discipline that serves it.
