About the school

The business of ministry, taught with the seriousness the church deserves.

Ministry Business School is a specialized Christian education platform for pastors, church planters, ministry workers, and Christian organizations. We teach the operational, financial, and organizational competence the local church needs to lead people well — the work Bible school never taught you.

Our conviction

The church is entrusted with people. That entrustment includes competence.

Pastors are ordained to shepherd. But the vocation quickly becomes something else too: budgets to steward, staff to hire, services to run, buildings to maintain, families to protect, data to safeguard, communications to publish, boards to convene, and a growing organization to lead into its next decade. Very little of that was taught in seminary. Almost none of it is taught in Bible school. And too much of it is quietly picked up from whichever business book was on the shelf that week.

Ministry Business School exists so that pastors do not have to guess. We take the executive disciplines that make any organization healthy — governance, finance, people, operations, marketing, systems, growth — and we teach them in the language and conscience of the church. The result is not a business school with a chapel; it is a school of ministry that finally takes the work of leading a church seriously.

“A good pastor without operational competence is a good pastor with a fragile church. The people deserve both.”

What MBS is — and what it isn't

A specialized school with a narrow, honest scope.

What MBS teaches

  • Church governance, board work, and eldership structure
  • Money, giving, accounting, audit, and safe cash handling
  • Hiring, staffing, culture, and pastoral team health
  • Sunday operations, hospitality, and service excellence
  • Buildings, safeguarding, insurance, and risk
  • Multiplication: services, campuses, and online reach
  • Marketing, brand, digital, and reputation for a church
  • Data, systems, and the tools that keep a growing church legible

What MBS does not teach

  • Doctrine, systematic theology, or exegesis — that is the work of your seminary and eldership
  • Denominational distinctives — we serve churches across the confessional spectrum
  • Preaching, homiletics, or pulpit craft — those disciplines have their own schools
  • Personal spiritual formation as a course — we assume it as the ground of the work
  • Sunday School curriculum for children — different vocation, different institution

Our accountabilities

We answer to the pastors we teach, and to the churches they lead.

MBS is deliberately narrow. We hold ourselves to five standards, and every module, mentor, and assessment is measured against them.

  1. 1 Doctrinal humility. We do not preach through the curriculum. Doctrine is left to your own tradition.
  2. 2 Operational rigour. Every module ends with something a pastor can put in place on Monday.
  3. 3 Contextual honesty. A 40-seat village church is not a 4,000-seat multi-site. We teach both, distinctly.
  4. 4 Financial transparency. Every cost, plan, and refund policy is stated on Tuition.
  5. 5 Confidentiality. What a pastor writes in an assignment stays with their mentor. See Privacy.

Our history

A school built out of pastoral need.

Ministry Business School was founded because too many faithful pastors told us the same story: they were trained to preach, called to shepherd, and then handed a set of keys, a bank account, a staff roster, and a growing organization — with no one to teach them how to run it. The consequences were predictable and painful: burnt-out pastors, fragile finances, undocumented safeguarding, staff conflict, and churches that plateaued at the ceiling of their leader's operational skill.

MBS was designed around one question: what would a serious executive education look like if it were built for pastors, from the ground up, without embarrassment about the church? The answer is what you are reading now.

Who we serve

Nine church contexts, one honest school.

We serve pastors and leaders of nine distinct church contexts — from aspiring church planters through village churches, small congregations, and stalled works, up to growing, multi-service, multi-location, and streaming churches. Every module gives you the general principle, then names the application for your context.
